Dr. Cory Hewko owns and operates Vernon Active Health Clinic since 2008. He is a licensed Chiropractor in British Columbia and is certified in Active Release Techniques (ART) and Graston Technique. Cory graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, California in 2007 after attending the University of Alberta studying Kinesiology.
Cory takes a holistic approach to treatment care as he provides advice on diet and exercise as part of a daily habit, postural rehabilitation, custom fit orthotics and vitamin counseling. He finds that incorporating this along with ART and correcting spinal misalignments that patients will respond favourably over the long term.
Active Release Techniques (ART) is a highly specific, hands on approach dealing with fibrotic tissue adhesions that cause pain and restricts normal movement between soft tissue structures. Through specific movement patterns ART helps to reduce and eliminate knots, adhesions and scar tissue. These can develop within and between muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Neck pain, headaches, low back pain, rotator cuff tears, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, frozen shoulder, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee issues, and tennis elbow are only a few of the various conditions that may be resolved with ART.
Cory moved to Vernon in 2008 with his wife Chantal in order to enjoy the beautiful weather and outdoor lifestyle that Vernon has to offer. They now have 2 beautiful children that are very fortunate to grow up in such a wonderful community. He loves raising his family here and enjoys many sports and activities including hockey, golf, wakeboarding, snowboarding, hiking and biking.
